Sweet Chocolate Taralli

Makes 16 | Vegan | Nut Free

Ingredients

250g plain flour

135g caster sugar, plus an additional 40g for coating

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp sea salt

20g cocoa powder

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

50ml extra virgin olive oil

100ml white wine

Method

Step 1: Preheat oven to 175°C and line two baking trays with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Sift in the cocoa powder and stir well.

Step 2: Pour the olive oil and wine into the dry ingredients and mix well to combine. Turn the dough out onto a clean surface and knead gently for 1 minute, until smooth.

Step 3: Take a heaped tablespoon of dough and roll into a 6-8cm rope, then join each end together and pinch to secure. Repeat for the remaining dough.

Step 4: Place the remaining 40g of sugar in a small bowl, place a taralli inside and coat. Transfer to the lined tray and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until firm. Cool completely on a wire rack, then serve.

Note: store in an air-tight container for up for 5 days.
