Hi there, I’m Mandy.

A dietitian | recipe developer | food photographer | food stylist

I love all things food and will use any excuse to get in the kitchen, from organising endless dinner parties and developing countless recipes. Over the years I have learnt how powerful food is. Not only is it a source of nourishment, but more importantly, it brings everyone together to provide a sense of unity and community. That’s where my love for styling and photography comes in - it allows me to tell a story and give the viewer a moment to think, to react, to feel and to understand all the beauty that food has to offer.

Made By Mandy was created in 2017 as a creative outlet to share my love for cooking. Since then, I have developed a new passion for recipe development, food photography and content creation. Over the past seven years, I have worked closely with incredible Australian businesses to bring a fresh and engaging eye to their brand.

In 2020 I graduated from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics. I have since undertaken further study and professional development in the Non-Diet Approach to dietetics and Health At Every Size (HAES®). The Non-Diet Approach is a way of dietetics that removes the emphasis and pressure to eat for weight loss. Instead, it embraces the HAES® paradigm, intuitive eating and mindfulness. I apply the principles of HAES® to help my clients treat their bodies with respect and kindness. Practising in a weight-inclusive manner means I can assist my clients to work towards their goals and improve their wellbeing regardless of their body weight, shape or size.

On my Instagram page, @madeby.mandy, I talk openly about the various determinants which impact health, and our society’s current obsession with ‘wellness’ and diet culture, in particular how this can promote unhealthy and disordered behaviours around food and exercise. I believe a healthy lifestyle is about so much more than what we put in our mouths. Rather, it’s about the way we experience life, both mentally and emotionally, without restriction or deprivation. My aim for Made By Mandy is to provide a sense of community through food and teach people how to stand up against diet culture, ditch food rules and find life-long food freedom!
